The name: Salt
In the past, Zaltbommel was also known as ‘Saltbommel’ or ‘Sautbommel’. This name refers to the trade in Zeeland salt during the Middle Ages, which was very important to the then Bommel. Restaurant Salt Zaltbommel is named after this.
